A contemporary single-storey rear extension to a traditional stone cottage in the heart of Richmond, set within the town’s conservation area and overlooking the River Swale.

The new addition creates a generous open-plan kitchen, dining, and living space — designed to bring the family together and connect the home more fully with its garden and riverside setting.

With a flat sedum roof and full-height glazing, the extension contrasts gently with the historic cottage, offering a light-filled, modern space that frames views and draws nature in. The design respects the character of the original building while adding a contemporary touch.
